MINUTES OF THE NZL 470 ASSN

TAKAPUNA BOATING CLUB – 7.30PM, THURSDAY 4 AUGUST,  2011

SHIPPPING: No cost given by YNZ yet, but was expected to be approx. $1000 NZ dollars per boat, return. YNZ has agreed to ship all 470 Assn boats and charge accordingly.

Sailors to take care of shipping carnets.

AK – Perth: shipping mid October to arrive in time for the regatta. Ideally, boats to arrive in Perth in time for pre-Worlds event from 20-24 November.

Perth – AK: to be advised

 

YNZ  contact– Rowan Lord. Jan Shearer is liaising with Rohan and will emphasise to YNZ the need to consider Junior Worlds timing for return shipping.

 

COACH BOAT: YNZ have agreed to provide a coach boat for the pre-Worlds regatta. Paul Francis will source another boat for the Worlds regatta for M and W, possibly from Birkenhead BC, this will be sent in a later container to Perth to arrive in time for the Worlds.

YNZ contact– Ian Neely looking after coach and coach boat for second tier 470 teams.

 

COACHING: Application for funding from AYBA has been submitted on behalf of the 470 sailors (Jan Shearer).

While in Perth: Following a discussion about who was available within the team is was decided that a coach would not be allocated, but only those who have a boat-masters (or similar) certification will be permitted to use the YNZ coach boat. It was discussed that the role could be shared between Murray Jones, Jan Shearer and Sam BullockÕs parents.

 

TRAINING: Andrew Brown has put together a training programme, which he will submit to the Assn. along with costs.

 

ACCOMMODATION: After discussion it was decided that all sailors would make their own arrangements for accommodation as some sailors were being billeted, some have family in Perth, and others have made various other arrangements.

 

FLIGHTS: After discussion it was decided that all sailors would make their own arrangements for travel to and from Perth.

 

FUNDING: It was resolved that funding applications be made by Mark Stevenson on behalf of the NZ 470 Assn for shipping, coaching, sails and equipment to support the teams attending the 2011 470 Worlds in Perth, Australia, and the 2012 Junior Worlds in Takapuna, New Zealand.

 

GENERAL BUSINESS: Entry fee for Worlds has been received from all teams and will be paid to Yachting New Zealand in due course by Sarah Powrie, Treasurer, upon receipt of invoice.

 

NEXT MEETING: Wednesday, September 7, 2011, time and venue to be advised. To coincide with Winter Champs.
